On Wednesday the 9th June golfers of all handicaps and abilities descended on Rhos-on-Sea for the Annual University Cup. University Golf Captain, Steph Hall, played host and welcomed numerous members of staff, guests and former employees to the wonderful beachside golf club.
After an eventful day that included a torrential monsoon, many golf balls into Llandrillo College Car Park and the strangest of golf swings the eventual winner was guest golfer Wyn Williams of Bangor. Wyn scored a decent 33 points, when bearing in mind the conditions this was excellent.
The University Staff Challenge Cup was awarded to Security Officer Maldwyn (Mashie) Jones who scored a credible 31 points. Mashie was 3rd placed on the day (guests cannot win the cup) but his "excellence" shone out...
The award for the best golfer on the 18th hole, nearest the pin, was won by Gwyndaf Hughes, a former long term member of staff at the Print Unit.
Placings:
1st Wyn Williams (guest)
2nd Nigel Malkin (guest)
3rd Maldwyn (Mashie) Jones (staff): University Champion 2010!
4th Howyn Roberts (staff)
